Beyonce's racy Halftime preformance

As many Americans excitedly tuned in to this weekends Superbowl game between the Ravens and the 49ers many were even more excited to tune into the halftime performance. Myself included. Beyonce Knowles is a grammy winning artist with multiple albums and a mogul to say the least. Naturally she would be chosen to preform at the halftime show this year. However, many people find that her halftime performance wasn't so... Family oriented. Rachel Campos-Duffy, A Today show contributor, says how "Slutty" Beyonce portrayed herself on stage, and sarcastically said, "Thanks for 'empowering' our girls!" She went on in her article to rant about how Beyonce was racy and not appropriate for a family oriented show. 

Okay, where to begin. First off I can see where some parents can question Beyonce and her performance because of their values and beliefs and religious backgrounds. I'm not shooting anybody down because of their beliefs, because everybody is entitled to their opinion. But I can honestly say that it kind of pisses me off that this female, Rachel whatever her last name is, decided to referred to somebody that I INDEED look up to as slutty. I saw absolutely nothing wrong with the way Beyonce preformed. She is an amazing artist with amazing dance skills, and she preforms with such an energy that I find it hard to believe that anybody would dislike her performance. If you took a look at Beyonce past performances at her concerts and anywhere else really, you can see that she performs the same way! So for you to sit there and keep watching the halftime show with your kids there, and you don't like it... Change the channel! If you don't want your children to watch the sexiness Beyonce is showing, simply walk away from the T.V screen. Rachel is acting like she has no control over her television. So what I'm not understanding is instead of shielding her children, she let them watch the whole thing! For what? I don't know. Everybody I know personally, loved her performance. Beyonce is a very great influence. Yes, she is sexy on stage. That is what she does, and she does it well. That is her character. That is her persona as an artist. Not only that, but Beyonce is an R&B artist. I'm not saying that all R&B artist moves their body the way Beyonce does, but that's how she performs!

As for being a good role model for young girls I think she's the perfect person to do the job! Beyonce has so much confidence in herself, and I actually really love that about her. She performed "slutty" yet she is far from that. Beyonce has been with the same man for years. After years of dating they got married, and THEN had a child. She gives back in so many ways and she enjoys life. Just because she shows off her curves and does a little provocative dance does not mean she is a slut. She is a role model for me. The Obama's even support her. 

However, I do want to state again that everybody is entitled to their own opinions. I do understand that many people do find Beyonce inappropriate. I do agree that maybe some kids shouldn't of watched the halftime show because of the provocativeness, but if that is the case change the channel.
